LOCAL COUNCILLOR UPDATE
I still keep being asked who our new Surrey County Councillor is following the by-election earlier in the year. Linda Kemeny was successful and now represents Brookwood and St. Johns at SCC. Linda joins our local Woking Borough Councillor who is still Glynis Preshaw. I will ask them both to provide an update on their projects for the next newsletter. Glynis can be contacted on 757641 or at cllrglynis.preshaw@woking.gov.uk
Some may remember that Linda was Mayoress of Woking in 2006/7 supporting John Kingsbury who was one of Brookwood Schools governors at the time. Linda will sit on Surrey’s Adult Social Care and Education Select Committees. She also sits on the Basingstoke Canal Joint Management Committee and was elected Chairman at her first meeting on June 17th. Linda hopes to see real improvements to the canal, particularly
through Brookwood. She also joined Borough Councillors on the Steering Group for the proposed Brookwood Farm development to help ensure that the vision for this important site reflects the views of local people.
Please contact her by emailing Linda.Kemeny@surreycc.gov.uk, or calling me on 07780-721314.

Many thanks are also due to Janet Stone, and her supportive family, who has handled bookings and a myriad of other behind the scenes tasks for over a decade at Brookwood Memorial Halls…....and……...

Brookwood School also wants to thank Mr Jason Armstrong has been working on cleaning up our school pond and the area immediately surrounding it. He has done a brilliant job so far. It is, however, overrun by brambles. Does anyone have expertise with bramble eradication and, particularly, access to materials with which to suppress these weeds? If so please contact him via the school office on 473315.
