Gordon Edwin Marsh – 1928 - 2011
Gordon sadly passed away on 9th August after a long struggle with cancer leaving his wife June, son David, daughter Wendy and three grandchildren. Gordon was a very quiet and private man and was born in Bagshot. He lived on Waterers Nursery where his father was a nursery foreman. After the death of his mother in 1941 Gordon went to live with his grandmother in Warminster in Wiltshire. He was a very keen member of the army cadets until the age of 18 and reached cadet ranking of under officer. On leaving school aged 14
Gordon served a 5 year apprenticeship with an agriculture and waterworks engineers in Warminster and qualified as a fitter turner. Gordon was conscripted into the army in 1946 and on being demobbed returned to finish his apprenticeship. He returned to Surrey in 1954 to work for Vickers Armstrong at Weybridge where he first met and then married his loving wife June in September 1956. They moved to Brookwood in 1960 when their Connaught Road home was first built. Gordon will be greatly missed by his loving family.
